Default Tax time, anyone been audited?

Just by posting this it's most likely Karma and I'll be audited for it!
I've often wondered just how many small plumbing companies have actually been audited? Anyone?

I just found out earlier this week they are auditing me for my 2007 returns. I wonder if this will qualify me for a cabinet position?

Yeah, I was audited in 2003. I ended up owing $395.00 for self-employment tax.

Those cats have no humor at all. Bring everything you have in an orderly manner, dress nice and comb your hair, and above all, be polite. To them, its a job until a better one comes along, so be very cool.

You have the right to appeal, so I didn't hire anyone. If it went bad, I would've hired a pro to represent me in the appeal.

I'm going to let my accountant handle it as they are questioning my out of town expenses and my depreciation schedule. Years ago (1980) I was audited and a friend of mine was an instructor for the IRS. He looked at what they were questioning and told me while they were wrong they missed a bunch of other things and I was better off paying them off and letting them close the file. He use to teach IRS agents all over the US and once told me their auditors were the least educated about the tax code than any other group.

I don't know why I was audited. I had the distinct impression they wanted to have a look-see. It was for 2002 and the Bush Bullies were doing things to citizens they only dreamed about pre-Homeland Security. Hopefully, that'll change with Obama, but I doubt it. Same ol' b.s., different reason.

Mine was as simple as writing off the fees for my Contractors license and my code books. They told me because I was an employee at the time it was not deductible. I told them they were just as important as any other tool on my truck.
