Ah Sally, I was so in love with her for so long. Then she got old

35 grand a year for a master plumber? What a freeking slap in the face. I can make more than that on welfare or selling crap on Ebay. Get the hell out of there.

You are right, that is the reason my job is so hard going behind the handy man, and hacks. In plumbing alone the school saved 300,000 thousand bucks last year from previous years. The contractors were killing them just in service work alone. Like I said hate to *****, just think people should play fair even private companies. If I am saving them that much at least do whats right, and yes most mornings 34,000 does seem like a slap in the face, this is the rual south not New England.

No overtime? Subcontractor worked as an employee? You don't need a union to talk to the Department of Labor. This is labor law 101. This stuff has been illegal in Oklahoma for many decades. Surely Alabama has laws too.

If $34K in your area is top wages for a Master then so be it.

Wake up pal. A master in my trade deserves better than this.

Hey "Pal" you dont have a clue. Just because the guy has a master plumber license doesn't make him a sub contractor and if your on salary your not entiled to overtime by law. Do you know what salary means?

Mr. Payne,
Based on these statements in your post I thought you were a subcontractor. My mistake if I misunderstood. Not all salary jobs are exempt from overtime. Maybe yours is. You can verify your "exempt" vs. "non-exempt" status under the FLSA at 866-487-9243.

Now for my "Wake Up" comment. I apologize if you believe this comment to be to harsh. Let's do the math:

$34,000 / 52 weeks / 60 hours per week (no overtime) = $10.90 per hour for a licensed Master Plumber.

Not looking for a sparring match TM, just offering my 2 cents for a fellow plumber that I think needed a wake up call.

Sure, the unions will solve the problem for every worker and help the economy of a nation at the same time.....those evil management $#%^&**&^...getting filthy rich off your sweat ...^&%$%&*((&&^.....almost worth not having a job...close down the school...bring them to their knees...

Better yet. Let the union own the school so that the union members who are acting management can tell the union workers that they need a drastic cut in pay because the union members in management just realized there needs to be some profit........I want to thank you Matt for that segway.
